Newcleus - Jam On It album

I like this group/album/genre so much, this isn't album like so many others I picked up on a chance in the $1 bin at one of my my favorite local record stores. I ordered this one shortly after starting my record collection on eBay. Well worth it! A classic.

The group Newcleus formed in the early 1980s, but actually dates back to 1977 with the group Jam-On Productions formed in 1977 in Brooklyn, New York. Teenagers Ben "Cozmo D" Cenac and his cousins Monique and Pierre "Pete" Angevin made up the group who gained popularity playing block parties. When the group renamed itself Newcleus, it consisted of Cenac, Yvette "Lady E" Cook (who would later marry Cozmo D), Monique Angevin, and Bob "Chilly B" Crafton (who would later marry Angevin).

Side 1
Computer Age (Push The Button) 7:35
Auto Man 5:49
I'm Not A Robot 4:51
Destination Earth (1999)

Side 2
Jam On Revenge (Special Re-Mix) 6:35
Jam On It 5:30
Where's The Beat 5:30
No More Running

The albums starts out with the song "Computer Age (Push the Button)" which is an awesome song. Definitely a strong electronic sound.

The second song on Side 1 is "Auto Man" which is said to be the source sampled by German Eurodance group Snap!'s 1992 song Rhythm Is a Dancer.

Songs 1 and 2 from Side 2 are major old school classics: Jam On Revenge and Jam On It.

This video put to Jam On It highlights the breakdance phenomenon occurring at the time of this album.

Side 2 Song 3 - Where's the Beat. Begins with the theme from Peter Gunn. Very cool beat.

Theme from Peter Gunn composed by Henry Mancini arranged by The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra

The Peter Gunn theme also reminds me of the old video game Spy Hunter and the movie The Blues Brothers.

Side 2 Song 4 - No More Running

A break dancing video intro'ing with Newcleus

Unrelated song, but very good break dancing set to Arthur Bakers classic "Breaker's revenge" as remixed by Freestylers
