2) Taylor Town Trade Center

22525 Ecorse Road, Taylor, MI
Taylor Town is basically an indoor flee market. I visited three record vendors in the market, but it's possible there were more on the other side of the store. ONe vendor had a small to medium assortment of miscellaneous $0.50 albums, another a large assortment of $3 albums, and the other albums for $10-$30. Open Wednesday through Sunday

Also one of my favorite places. Large $1 selection. More focus on jazz, soul R&B, and 45s. Some rock and hip-hop. I like to pickup gosphel here. If you want something specific, they will try to get it for you. Great guys! They have two locations.

6) Flames Favorites Record Store (verify still open - call first)

51 West Hancock, Detroit, MI
This has been one of my more recent discoveries. Jim is the owner and he has a great collection. Not only a good selection of a lot of jazz and r&b like many of the stores have downtown, but a huge selection of 80s rock, hard rock, classic rock, etc. He has a huge collection and great stuff! I'll be back often. Look up his hours on his web site and call before you come down.

Record Stores Around Dearborn Michigan

11) Dearborn Music

22501 Michigan Avenue
Dearborn, MI
Dearborn Music has a great selection of vinyl, CDs, and other music merchandise. In my experience, Dearborn Music doesn't have the $1 selection some records stores do. Instead, they tend to carry and specialize in new records and high quality records. I've never left Dearborn Records with a poor condition record. They have both 33s and 45s. They are a very well-liked, well-known, and respected music store in the area. Store acquired more square footage some years back - large! Has come to be my go-to place of records.

12) Stormy Records

13936 Michigan Avenue
Dearborn, MI
Stormy records is a very well-liked record store in metro Detroit. After visiting Hello Music and People Records, I’d say Stormy not only has a good $1 selection, but their $1 records are in perhaps the best shape around. Great selection, well organized, and husband and wife owners Windy and Carl are extremely well-liked. Put this store on your places to go!

15) Detroit Threads

10238 Joseph Campau Avenue
Hamtramck, MI
Next stop literally a few stores down: Detroit Threads, a record store well-known for a deep collection of house, techno, and electronic music. They also carry traditional rock, pop, funk, soul, R&B, jazz, hip-hop, and disco. Inside, the not only sell music, but rare t-shirts, hoodies designed by local artists, and 45s. DJs commonly frequent the store to build their collections and one was playing records while we were there.

16) The Record Graveyard

2610 Carpenter Avenue
Hamtramck, MI
This store has a very diverse selection of genres, well-organized, a good amount of square footage, without a cramped layout. The owner is very nice, knowledgeable, and willing to research and find items you want. I didn’t see a $1 bin, but all the items seemed very reasonably priced and of good quality. I enjoyed digging here and would come again!

19) Solo Records and Tapes

30118 Woodward Ave, Royal Oak, MI 48073
I visited here in August 2015 and really liked the store. I saw mostly used vinyl (and tapes), with a few new ones. I bought a new 2015 Record Store Day release when I was there at a reduced price - the green 10" Stan Getz album. They ha da good selection of 45s and 33s - rock, pop, jazz, comedy, soundtracks, etc. They a sizable $0.25 cent area (or 5 vinyls for $1).

This was my first visit here and I was very impressed! Great selection in very diverse genres and great prices! I highly recommend dropping in this records store. I hope to come back often. The store gets great reviews on Yelp and has a good selection of used CDs too. They had new presses, RSD releases, punk, hiphop, jazz, metal, $0.25 cent albums, $1 albums, $2 albums, you name it... Awesome store. I picked up 13 albums on my first visit for $38 including a great J Dilla album.

Record Stores Around Ann Arbor Michigan

22) Encore Records

417 East Liberty Street, Ann Arbor, MI
I first visited this store on January 19, 2015. Pretty large store. Deep collection in many, many genres. Friendly staff. Seemed to be a very popular record store in Ann Arbor. Didn't see $1-$2 albums; most in $5-$20 range. New presses as well as used albums. Some pretty unique albums here.

23) Underground Sounds

255 East Liberty Street #249, Ann Arbor, MI
Very small store, but very well maintained and great selection of albums (from the perspective of my tastes). When I return to Ann Arbor to shop for records, this will be the first place I visit. They have a lot of new presses and chose them wisely. Incredible selection of rock, punk, hip-hop and electronic. Encore Records and Underground Sounds are both on Liberty Street between Main Street and State Street within one block of each other and on the same side of the road.

24) P J's Records & Used C D's

617 Packard Street Ann Arbor, MI
Located on the second floor of this building on the corner of Packard and State about a mile from the first two Ann Arbor stores above. Not a large store in square feet, but they pack the albums in. Pretty diverse selection of genres. Inexpensive albums ($1-$3) as well as newer albums and new presses for the typical $15-$30. Nice selection of raggae.

Record Shows Around Metro Detroit

25) The Motorcity Music Convention

Record Show, held at the Elks lodge in Livonia, MI at 31117 Plymouth Road.
It was a great show with a good turnout of both vendors and attendees. There were both rare and new presses ($20-$120) as well as $.50 and $1 vinyl, plus CDs, and lots of other items for sale. I left with 84 albums for about $84.

26) Henry Ford College

Lastly, on 10/18/2014, Henry Ford College had its seventh annual WHFR Record Show. The show was great with a lot of great vendors, records, music merchandise, and people! WHFR has provided award-winning broadcasting to the community for almost 30 years. Definitely an event to put on your calendar and cause to support.

27) Lyrics on Vinyl

73 N Saginaw Steet, Pontiac, Michigan
I visited this store some time ago when it was first opening up and still setting up the interior. It looked like it was going to be a neat store. They also seem to have a lot of events at the location. Check out there social media web sites. I'll give A more detailed review after I go back. I know I picked up a few cool albums on my first visit.
